# CODECPRO G.726 CODEC  ITU-T STANDARD CODEC

The G.726 codec was originally designed as a half-rate alternative to ITU-T G.711. G.726 is an ADPCM codec and it converts directly from or to A-law or µ-law PCM. The G.726 has four bitrates: 40, 32, 24 or 16 kbps.
